Trend keeps disabling my game (Fallout New Vegas) by deleting a single file

How can I stop Trend from deleting game files? I have already set up exemptions for the entire directory yet Trend has found a way to disable my game. In order to play the game I have to first shut down Trend then verify the game files (in Steam) which restores the missing file then re-enable Trend. I would like to simply whitelist the misidentified file but I can't figure out what file is being targeted. Is there a log somewhere?

I put the whole Steam folder in my exception list.
